4. I try to connect but it seems to lock up during the "ident" part of the connection.

Halfway thru the connection routine the program will seem to "hang"/pause for a minute or two. This is during the "Ident" part of the process and is perfectly normal.Give it a minute or two to complete this vital check and then the connection will complete and you'll finally be in the channel.
